Gone too Soon

A Poster Memorial Project to those who have lost their loved ones to opioids in the Sacramento region.

Created in October 2022, Gone too Soon displays a series of poster-size photos of those lost to opioid overdose and fentanyl poisoning. We are humanizing the statistics by offering a look at the faces of community members and showing the great losses we have faced, both together and apart.

The posters are shared at here, at in-person community events, on social media, in videos, and in schools, special thanks to our partnership with Arrive Alive California and Sacramento County Department of Health Services (DHS).

Drugs Take Good People

Our intention with displaying these photos is to educate and heal our community. Each poster is treated and stored with respect. The personal qualities shared invite us to glimpse into a part of their personality and what they liked to do (i.e. compassionate, musician).

Posters and faces are shared:

  • On our website (see below)
  • In-person community events
  • Social media
  • In videos
  • Middle and high schools thanks to our partnership with Arrive Alive and Sacramento County DHS.

We would be honored to have support from you and your loved ones in increasing awareness on the dangers of opioids and in the possibility of preventing future losses.

Permission must come from next of kin.

To share your loved one’s story, please download the SCOC permission form and email it to Amber Arif at [email protected].
